Doreen is a wonderful wife, but Eddie knows he's not being the husband he should be. Something is getting in the way ...and that something is the Vietnam war. Eddie can't get it out of his mind. Nor can he cope with the fact that his best friend for all those years through school, is now a P.O.W.. Doreen can see that Eddie cannot be consoled by those tormented thoughts. So, when Eddie volunteers for the war, Doreen just stands by him in his decision, not even telling him she had recently found out ...she is pregnant!
